Project Update: B-17
Both forums for the 1/3 Scale B-17 at AirVenture 2012 were well attended with a standing-room-only crowd who wanted an update on this marvelous Project’s progress. After the intro, I started out with around 20 slides that showed photos of the completed assemblies of the fuselage and the wing that had taken place over the previous years and then in the last 30 slides I brought everyone up to date on the progress over the last 12 months. This entailed starting on the engine mount, cowling, exhaust and all accessories and control hookups that make the engines run. By the time of the forum, this all had been completed on this engine and Jack Bally, the builder, was then turning to work on the installations of the other three engines. He found that the remaining three engines wound necessarily be that easy.
